I do believe there is a way to install package with dpkg and force the overwrite of modified files. --force-overwrite comes to mind.

But you would need the Nokia firmware update deb file and manually update your system. just as much of a PITA as fixing these little problems.

What I am debating privately with myself.. is if Nokia should default their firmware updates to forcing the overwrite of user modified files......... but.. this would cause breaks/problems with whatever software it was that modified the system file. So, in either case.. you're going to have issues.

If you're experiencing the problem.. you also need to replace the .script with the .script.dpkg-dist one.

Well.. check to make sure you have the right script (run one of the previous LS commands, there should only be one file).. you should be ok until the next package from extras-devel breaks you .

Is there two files, or only one? (from the broken devices.)
One file (libicd_network_ipv4.script) on both devices. I don't think it's a DNS issue as after reboots/reconnects it DOES work, it just gets into trouble at a rate that impedes regular usage. It either gets stuck (for example I see I'm still listed as connected to an AP in a building that I left at least 15 minutes ago), or fails to associate on repeated attemps (I pick an AP and it comes back with a 'network error' 10 times in a row - I reboot it and the device boots up perfectly connected with a fairly strong signal).

Can you give an exact command?

But you would need the Nokia firmware update deb file and manually update your system.
apt-get -d install libicd-network-ipv4

???

@atilla,
Yeah.. yours is definitely a more detailed problem. Probably have to dig into the logs somewhere to see if something (or rather what somethin) is getting stuck and maybe file a bug report if you can find a way to manually reproduce it.

mv /etc/udhcpc/libicd_network_ipv4.script.dpkg-dist /etc/udhcpc/libicd_network_ipv4.script

no such file or directory...

I also only see libicd_network_ipv4.script in the udhcpc directory.

You've got the right idea (Assuming libicd-network-ipv4 is the actual package name that is installed.)... what I was thinking is dpkg -i --force-overwrite <package>.

I'm not sure if thats for replacing modified files on the system or overwriting files that were provided by another package.

I'm getting rusty .
