Can folks please let me know the best way to synch their music to the N900. I have tried the following options but none seems ideal.

1. I did copy and paste but that has some issues. First, if I add new music to my PC there is of course no easy way to add the new music to the N900 unless I know exactly where they are and then copy them to the device. Alternative would be to copy and paste my whole music folder again. That is too much hassle especially as the N900 seems to have 100 year old music technology (something called tracker is apparently the problem) and takes as long as a week to finally recognise all the music and video files on the device after I add them. Secondly, the device doesn't recognise ID3 tags so this has left me with a lot of files that read unknown artist, song, etc or album artist rather than song artist.

2. Ovi Suite does not seem to work with my device. Whether I connect in PC Suite mode or mass storage mode it says not connected in compatible mode.

3. Media Monkey seems to synch into the main folder of the device rather than the music folder (even though I have adjusted settings in Media Monkey). Plus it has the same problem with copy and paste that I get incorrect/incomplete tags.

4. Winamp seems to result in better tags. It copies both song artist and album artist. Not ideal but at least better than copying only album artist which means for compilation albums I am just left with Various Artist so I can't identify the person who sang the song or featured artist on a person's album. However, it has the same problem with Media Monkey of synching to the main device folder.

5. I have not tried Windows Media Player but I am guessing it will also synch to the main folder and not music folder.

So I haven't found any neat synch way like the way itunes synchs to ipods. But can people tell me what they have found to be the best way.

WinAmp works great... You can tell it where to put the music.
I got it to dump it all in my music folder... Its in the options somewhere!
And the tags are fine... Use it in conjunction with MP3Tag and your set

Mediamonkey works fine for me somehow... There is even a script, which converts the playlists, so the N900 can read them. But did not try that yet...

Thanks. How do you get it to synch to the correct folder. I tried Options> Preferences > Plugins > Portables. I then set it to the desired folder but it still synched to the main folder for some reason. Are you synching in mass storage mode? This is how I am synching (Winamp and Media Monkey don't pick up my N900 in PC Suite Mode).

Lol that is what I did currently but as mentioned in my OP this is not ideal for me at all (incomplete tags and what happens when I add new music to my PC music folder).
