Well that is an old version of flasher! I used 3.5. (suspect you made a typo there)

Have you followed the Flashing Guide ?
It worked for me on WIndows 7 after a few attepts. Is the battery fully charged? Did you turn off the device and then press u and connect the cable?

I had the same error on my first try as the device driver would not load and i had to reboot win 7 to accept unsigned drivers. I doubt Linus has the same issue though.

Can you upload vanilla ?
Is vanilla region independent btw?

That's the eMMC image, so is region independent. And flasher 3.5 does report as 2.5.2 for some reason, so that's the correct flasher version.

I had a little problem during update, with the nokia software and the phone went quiet. I read the instruction to reflash the device. After restarting with "Boot without checking for signed drivers" or whatever, vista seems to recognise the usb, since it says that new device installed, or something like that on the taskbar, but still the flasher isnt.

C:\Program Files (x86)\maemo\flasher-3.5>flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_2.2009.
51-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

I had exactly the same thing trying to flash with XP. I ended up using a bootable Linux CD and flashing it from there instead.

It powers on automatically but doesn't show the USB logo? Odd - about all I can suggest is making sure the battery is fully charged.

I had a same problem when I tried to upgrade via Win7.
With Win XP - everything works fine, so I suggest - try to find Win XP and try again.

I suppose that Win 7 and in your case Linux does not has a proper driver for N900 and does not recognize it well.

Hope this will help.
Regards.

I flashed my device twice on Windows 7 last night. The first time it went really smoothly without and glitches. The second time it never wanted to recognize my device. Only after several attempts at unplugging and plugging it back in while holding the U key did it finally work. My only advice is to keep trying.
