Hi,

I was wandering if somebody is working on a project in maemo dev comunity similar to Dynamic Composable Computing concept from Intel (http://www.popularmechanics.com/blog...html?nav=RSS20).

I particular (just as an example) I would love to be able to get back to my home workspace and my N900 would hook to my BT/Wireless keyboard and mouse and just plug it to my monitor (in the future wireless connection to monitor would be desirable; even better if device like N900 would have dual output video card with limited resolution for device's touch screen and higher resolution for external monitor) and continue working with it like desktop computer. As soon as I need to go somewhere - I just grab my Nokia, put it in my pocket and just go, knowing that all my stuff is with me.

Of course, having possibility to extend computing power and range of applications by using home workstation would be even better, but I would leave it for now.

I think nothing from what I have described is impossible with current N900 powered by Maemo 5.

If somebody knows about such project - please share.

Wandering if anybody else would find such possibility useful.

Alex

There are many projects (at least in Europe and Japan) whose objective is precisely that, to allow the surrounding intelligent infrastructure to provide its capabilities to services that are running in mobile devices. Look for information about the "Internet of Things", about "Ambient Intelligence", or about projects "Ambient Networks", "SPiCe", "SUMO", "OSAMi", "Jiritsu", "Smart Urban Spaces", etc..

One of those projects is the one I am working on at present. It is called mIO! and its web page is http://www.cenitmio.es/ (in Spanish though). As part of that project, the company I work for is preparing a prototype that includes part of the software platform that runs in the infrastructure and also part of the client that works in Android powered phones (as of now). However, as I own a N900, I will port the client to Maemo5 myself in case the business people think it is not worth doing it by the company itself.

Greetings.

PD: I am also working on "Smart Urban Spaces", but it is still in its early stages.

Why not do something with VNC? I use my PC through my N810 often for big flash websites because a few I frequent are too slow on the N810.
