I actually meant remove its contents and not the actual button. It used to be greyed out and inactive but now that it is populated with stuff that I don't want to reinstall how do I empty it? I thought it might have been because I'd done a backup and it was referencing some things in the backup, but I have removed the backup and the button is still active and full of apps. Any info greatly appreciated.

I may be wrong, but I think if you disable a repository it'll clear out the cached apps from that repo. Then you can re-enable it. My "restore" has nothing in it so I'm unable to try for myself, but you can try it and let us know.

I tried disabling catalogues and rebooting phone but they were still there. I've even deleted the catalogues and rebooted but they're still there in the restore button. If you open up the button it states that the backup lists theses apps but I have deleted the backup so shouldn't this button be cleared Thanks anyway

rm /home/user/.hildon-application-manager/packages.backup

should solve your problem. Anyway I think it would be nice if the app restoration dialog offered a button similar to "Finalize application restore" -> dialogbox "Do you want to forget about the packages listed?" -> button "Yes", "No". Then the system issues the command for removal of the packages backup cache file or keeps user previewing the list of packages to restore.

Hi,
I found that same file yesterday when I was browsing but the apps listed in that file is everything I have installed whereas those listed in the restore button are only a few of them. I'm assuming it's safe to remove content of that file then? It would be nice if when the restore button becomes active it ask's you what you want to do as in restore or remove its contents.

Hi, I suppose that the app manager compares the list of apps with apps already installed. The visible list is the difference of both. In my opinion it is safe to delete.

Hi Mikeos,
Thanks that did the trick deleting the contents of that file. I just wasn't too sure that it could be deleted (I'm new to this maemo stuff).
