I have voted. Don't want to have to re-encode my vids if I don't have to.

Have just downloaded the latest handbrake 0.94 with updated presets. It now saves the ipod profile rips as .mp4 without chapter markers. And it now plays in the media player.

Will try with other presets and post output later today.

For those that dont want to re-encode thier files, you can use avidemux to remove chapters and save the m4v as mp4 file. its very quick (as quick as doing a file copy)

OK just done a mega test of Handbrake profiles using handbrake 9.4.

Pr1.1 firmware does not handle chapter markers. All of the Handbrake 9.4 Apple profiles still have chapter markers enabled as standard. If you uncheck chapter markers, you will get the same behavior as pr1.0 ie ipod and iphone profiles will work in N900 media player. AppleTV and Regular/Normal will not play.

The Maemo Wiki profile works sweet as it does not have chapter markers checked.

Use Avidemux to remux your files that have chapter markers, and you should be good to go on PR1.1. Avidemux is very fast so highly recommend

My problem isn't so much playing back video files from local storage (I use mPlayer/KMplayer anyway as xVid often seems very laggy in media player), but in streaming video via uPnP media servers, as per bug#8000 https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8000

Used to work fine, stopped working after updating. Particularly vexing as I'd only had my n900 for 1 day by that point
For reference, these video files play as expected if I download them to the N900 via the media server and play them from local storage, rather than streaming.
