Why the duplication? There are already articles on customisation, that aren't in a personal user's page. For the well-established modifications the community will be better served if people edited the main "Customizing Maemo" page, as Cas07 has suggested at the top of his page.

Yes, sure. Please feel free to modify and share. We actually implemented chat theming support for upcoming upgrade. It will allow anyone to easily create downloadable IM themes and smiley themes. I will mention this in this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=36618

Thanks for your interest in hacking it!

Well it's rather simple (but requires some graphics work on your part).

The unlock screen is part of the theme and contains the background for the sliding part (the "ball" that slides is not part of the image). Since I'm using the default theme, the image is located in /usr/share/themes/alpha/backgrounds/lockslider.png

(I've attached it as well)

I just used it as a template to GIMP a slider background on it on the correct spot and then overwrote the default theme image with mine:

(do this as root)
Code:
cp /home/user/MyDocs/lockslider.png /usr/share/themes/alpha/backgrounds/
And that's about it.

(here's my panoramic desktop and the lockslider image for reference: abandoned.tar.gz)

Oh **** I always connect to power when booting up. What's wrong with it?

I have the answer for you.

I was tired of this axe hanging over my head. I looked and I was at 42 today when I read this. So I just started rebooting, I figured I had flashed and been in R&D mode enough I could fix it.

Well that was wrong!!! When I hit 48-51 I was waiting and it didn't reboot just went dead!

Then... I pressed and held the power button to fire it up. It did act different than a normal power up, but it powered up.

I then checked the boot count and it was on 6. So they must have hacked in a work around. Basically a forced shutdown.
