There's a "cellular modem control button" in Maemo Extras that do just that. It only disables your cellular modem and leaves wireless functional so that you can still stream music, podcast, etc. from the internet

When i go to the gym I must have my n900 off in terms of not receiving a cell phone call. Today I started using an Panuccio -Podcaster player. I turned off the carrier signal and guess what, it tuned off the volume.
So I was wondering, is it possible to put an option on the desktop for a flight mode icon that can trigger the n900 to kill the carrier signal BUT not the volume?
