i am trying to install samba on the n900 and i get an error while configuring

/bin/sh - is an illegal command
dpkg failed with a status code of 1

does anyone know why this occurs with the post script items for samba-common and if anyone knows how to install this correctly?

thanks

Does this actually work for you? I only see the windows share folder but not a single file or any subdirectories, only text "this folder contains no files" (with both xp and 7).

Yes, you are correct - no files or folders just the shares themselves.

Works for me usiing windows media player as server and clicking share to n900. When i go in file manager or media player my windows shares are already there including all videos and songs. There s a bug in the new firmware though that stops some videos playing over lan but that has been confirmed as fixed in the next firmware update.

this is what you need:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38536

if you can see windows "shares" without installing the modules from that thread, then those are probably not windows file shares, but media shares from windows media player via UPnP.
