Maemo 6? As from what is posted by Nokia, Qt4.6 is going to be integrated into all of their phones, Maemo's and Symbians. The teaser 'commercials' shows Qt4.6 on N900, N95, and many other nokia phones...What they want to do is put Qt4.6 on all of their phones so that developers only have to develop apps once (using Qt) and the apps can be installed on all their Qt phones....or something like that.

I've installed HyperUI, looks cool but no applicable use for it atm lol

Woah this looks awesome. My friend has a N97 and he despises it so this is good news for him haha.

So what is it exactly? A GUI overhaul? Will I still be able to run all my regular Maemo 5 apps after installing this? And if so, will they run slower/faster?

It's a different set of controls and widgets and application framework for developers to write with. Installing Qt4.6 will not make any changes to existing software unless they are modified to use it.

Qt is an application development framework. It's something applications use. To avoid confusion, this will only affect applications that are Qt based, and even there, only those that were explicitly written to take advantage of this tech. Just having a library in there won't automatically make everything pretty. As the N900 ships with no Qt based GUI applications, this means very little change in the 'default' applications, more the ability to backport stuff from Maemo 6 or the desktop, or simplify writing apps that run on both Maemo 5 and 6.

That's some great news. All of this makes me wish I started to learn programming/coding already My new N900 is certainly bringing me on the right track though
