Hello

Picked up my N900 five days ago

I've been a full time Linux user on my home PC since 2007 but have still been using a windows smartphone up til now. Its great to be able to switch to a good linux alternative.

Now I'm 'clean' and no longer using M$ and loving the device

Got my N900 in early December, and finally committed to opening the box a few weeks later. It's a great device. I'm not a techie, but I've been reading posts on this site and learning a lot. I am very impressed by the community and its overall welcoming attitude toward newcomers. Randy, in D.C.

I've been kicking around here for a few weeks, but I didnt say hi here when I first joined up. (I know, how rude, right?) So.. Hi!

The community has been awesome so far and quite helpful.

Thanks!

Hi there,

I have been old timer on the forums but haven't had chance to post anything yet.

I have owned all the maemo devices starting from 770, 800, 810 & now N900. Just got my N900 today, so after all its a good day to start posting on the forums and be more active :-).

Cheers,
Naheed from Mountain View/CA/USA

Hey Naheed! I was just in your neck of the woods a month ago, for a Maemo showcase event. I really love Mountain View.

disclaimer: ex-employee as well.

hello.

I mostly ignore the 'general' forum, so not my first post. N900 owner, new to maemo, but not to linux. opensuse, archlinux and for a while now stayed with gentoo.

I've had my N900 now for a week and I love it.

I'm a hard core geek with lots of gtk experience (I have even written part of the BiDi support used in gtk).

Tonight I have tried to connect the N900 to my FrogPad (failed) and to my Lego Mindstorms NXT set through python (worked). The NXT will provide wheels for the N900 so that it can roam around the house on its own.

I'm planning to play around with the acceleration sensor and see how easy it is to use it as in put device by sensing gestures and taps.

Cheers,
Dov
