@slocan: Its not the widgets I have switched off all and turned on others but there was no changes

@Alex: I have not moved stuff from root at all.

Everyone should probably list all the widgets used, to see if there are some common ones.

Good to know, as I was tempted to move them back or reflash and now I wont bother. A simple reboot fixed it anyway and to be fair, I had about 13 days uptime with extensive use (IM connected all day, every day) which is far better than I ever had on Windows Mobile with light use (because it was generally far too slow to use anything like how I do the N900).

Its quite curious actually as I have similar experiences with desktop Linux slowing down over time, not the applications or daemons, just graphical stuff. Makes me wonder if this is all related to Xorg somehow.

hey guys i think i found the problem. i turned off all my widgets and the problem went away. i turned them back on one by one and guess what

personal IP address, was causing the issue

turn that widget off the one which displays your IP and your sorted.

Same issue here. I've just removed personal IP address as mentioned and will report back - but first signs are not encouraging

For the record I also have:

Simple FXTX Desktop Widget (0.3.0).
OM Weather (0.24.12)
Custom Operator Name Widget (0.1)
Load Applet (0.4.6-5)
Personal IP Address (0.3-6)
Media Player (v?)

FYI. I ran into this problem when I replaced a bunch 15-20 of icons (png) files in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/hildon with some slightly (5-8k) larger ones. and then added shortcuts to them on a homepage.. The problem only went away when I compressed the PNG files.

I believe there is a very very low memory limit for hildon-desktop which can be reached by
- replacing icons with larger ones
- installing many new apps and then adding shortcuts to them one home pages

I'm not sure if this is out of place or not but I was about to start a thread and this seems related enough so I'd like to check if people are getting similar behavior.

At times my phone feels responsive enough (to be honest "blazing fast" is not a description I would likely use often) but after a while even if I don't have too many applications open it crawls to a halt. In fact I just missed a call because the phone app wouldn't load up fast enough! I just heard ringing but the screen stayed dead.

I think the slowdowns I've noticed happen over time and have the character of a memory leak. They seem to occur after I have a lot of apps running but even shutting off apps still leaves the system quite laggy.

This does not seem to be too specific to Hildon-Home but really applies to the whole system -- waking the phone up, launching the task manager, selecting an app, etc...

Are others seeing only very specifically hildon-home unresponsiveness or more general unresponsiveness?

My widgets:

personal ip
om weather
ap news
conversation inbox
calendar
dataplan monitor
FM transmitter on/off
desktop media player (forget the name)
desktop load monitor showing cpu+mem (again forget the name)
