I am having the exact same problem but with something even worse attached although it seems the two problems are linked. The second problem I am having is that when I delete a contact the contact gets added back immediately (just like merged contacts are getting added back). This is problematic because I certainly don't want to chat with all my facebook friends and certainly don't want them having a contacts entry on my N900. I was also hoping I would be able to just be given a list of all my Facebook contacts and then I choose which ones I want to add to the N900 but that isn't the case. Thankfully it does not automatically just add all your contacts (has only added 7 for me). Think it just adds the ones that have been online same times as you.

still sounds like a bit of a problem to me and hopefuly one that can be sorted before it comes out of testing :-)

Maybe I'm stupid, but I can't find where to get this plugin! I must activate extras-devel???? Or I can update directly from .07 ?!
What's the link for extras-devel?

you must enable extras-devel , but this isnt working as said before , complains some missing package

I installed the pidgin extra protocols from extras-devel. Works nice so far, though sometimes it repeats what I have entered. Also be aware that your relatives will keep messaging you while you are driving.

I mentioned earlier that there are currently 2 MSN plugins

MSN protocol plugin for Conversations and Contacts 0.7 and MSN (pecan) protocol plug-in 0.1.0~rc3-0maemo1

I think MSN (pecan) protocol plug-in 0.1.0~rc3-0maemo1 is spare and confuses the users when browsing through Application Manager.

I suggested the author/maintainer (Felipe Contreras / felipec) of MSN (pecan) protocol plug-in 0.1.0~rc3-0maemo1 to merge the development to MSN protocol plugin for Conversations and Contacts 0.7

and Extra protocol plugins for Conversations and Contacts 0.8 which includes MSN, altough the current package tells some part is missing, then we have pidgin plugins and ..and... this can be very confusing to new owners...

The confusion goes beyond that because Extra Protocol Plugins For Conversations And Contacts 0.8 actually includes both:
  • Pidgin Protocols Plugin For Conversations And Contacts 0.8 (includes msn)
  • MSN Protocol Plugin For Conversations And Contacts 0.8

I took all my courage to enable extras-devel (I've never enabled it before) and installed the Pidgin 0.8 thingy, and I must say Facebook works flawlessly.
Great job
