My MediaPlayer is very disapointing.

a) wrong cover art (seems to be a reported bug)
b) now manually new indexing
c) how to difine wher to index (did not find an option)

But the worst

I had this now 3 times. Sons and videos show. when I click on a song it will just not play (bar stays at 0:00)

I went to x_terminal once and entered some code i found in the forum (could not refind it) and this seemed to delete the cache and reindexed my songs and videos (another 15 minutes wait till it startet indexing and finished indexing)

After this it worked again.

Today it is not working. Very frustrating.

Anyone has the same. Anyone know a work around or what not to to in order to avoid hassle

Anyone finds the links for the code to enter to have the cache reindexed.

Am I really the only one with this problem?

Ok lets get this..
Indexer sucks *ss more or less. At least for some people. Maybe its corrupted audio file header or corrupted database or some other little glicth, but it seems to be problem for some people.

I do not now have time but i would suggest to search here and bugzilla for different workarounds for reseting index and maybe deleting database files.

What i would do if i were you i would remove ALL the video files and use it for couple of days and see if there is any problem if there is then i would remove half of music files etc. you know the rest until there is no media.

I found the tip again

You could try killing your tracker cache and forcing a re-cache

tracker-processes --hard-reset

Will kill the process and remove all dbs.

Then run

/etc/osso-af-init/tracker.sh start

Installing extra codec support fixed it this time

I don't think that this was needed but think it refreshed my index - new.

The indexer also indexes all media everywhere.

If it's any consolation let me say media player on my device is worse than on any other N900 in the whole wide world.

1. when I add my music it can take up to a week to finish indexing. That is for up to a week there are still times it says no music or videos despite there being 4000 songs and 100 videos. With video it isn't too much of a problem because I navigate through file manager anyway. With music I don't have that option unless I want to listen to one song at a time.

2. Some songs have missing album art missing even though all my songs have embedded album art.

3. many songs have missing song details. Just shows up as unknown artist and unknown album. Strangely enough it shows the correct album art.

4. Music stutters from time to time.

5. Only shows album artist rather than song artist. This means if I am listening to a compliation album I can't tell who sang the song because it just shows Various Artist. If I am listening to a hip hop or R&B song where guest artists are quite common I can't tell who the guest artist is because it just shows the album artist.

6. Getting imported play lists to work is a real mission.

2,3 and 5 are particularly annoying becuase I have in the past spent weeks tagging all my music and downloading the correct album art from amazon.

1 is super annoying because it just makes the music player unusable alot and I have been using hard drive based mp3 players for 10 years and have never come across an mp3 player where all my music is not fully accessible as soon as I disconnected the usb cable.
