I don't know if it's accurate but it seems like it is not in the sync in terms of visual level and percentage. Like i see it's 25% battery left and yet the bat icon bar shows almost half left.

I will find out which one is correct...i am going to drain it.

Be careful of draining it completely. There have been some posts from people who let their battery completely drain, and then it would not charge in the phone. They had to use a desktop charger to recharge it some. It seems like there may be a limit set, that once the battery drops below, the N900 won't let it charge.

I always let it drain completely - it alerts me a few time about low battery, and then alerts to charge it - and the phone goes off. Never had trouble charging it from that state...

I second omeriko9. I also always let it drain completely, until it shuts down. Then I charge it until I have a green light. Only then I turn it on.

I've had no problems with this. At least psychologically I feel that this procedure gives me more battery time.

It's a lithium ion battery. It already has a pcb that stops further discharge when it reaches around 2.7 volts or so and overcharge beyond 4.2 voltas. There is hardly any benefit regardless of how much you charge or discharge.

Update: I think the battery level is pretty accurate. With 2 or 3% left, it shows tiny bar. With 0% left, it shows still tiny bar and then after awhile it turns RED and sounding alert. Full charge at 95 or 96% is normal to me...i never get 100%!!

Frequent complete (or even near complete) draining of a li-ion battery is detrimental to the life of the battery. It is better to charge it whenever necessary and not let it reach low levels.

I use Desktop Command Execution widget for my battery level. It's as accurate as you can get. =)
