I guess the idea behind this is not to fill up your memory for apps, since this way it is simply linked into the apps folder rather than taking up space.

guess I'll have to delete all instances of the n900_TV version and will try to uplaod it back. At least now I know what I am doing and I might actually get it there a lot faster. installed leafpad, which helps as well. This way I can just alter the dafault.config right there.
I'll keep you guys posted if it works.
Don't use leafpad man....use Mad Developer and WinSCP!! You just open up your computer and go to any folder...drag, edit, whatever you want to do with the file...so much easier.

Will check them out. Meanwhile, I did get it going by just copying it directly into the '/usr/share/hildon-welcome/media/' folder. For some reason the linking into the opt/ did not work for me. I thought ln -s would create this? So I had the file in the /opt/ shouldn't
'ln -s /opt/maemo.avi maemo.avi' than create that link (the file did show up...). Weird I'll have to try it again some other time.
Wife has been calling me to come home for dinner ;-)
Thanks all of you guys for your help.
The more I get into this, the more I love the n900. I am not saying 'phone' because the phone is the only part that pretty much sucks about it ;-)

I try what you did by creating a shortcut linking to /opt/...it works for me. Wow, i saved root space by doing that...i DID NOT KNOW THAT! Anyway, i typed exactly what you did and it created a shortcut in /usr/share/hildon-welcome/media/ and it works. I also notice it LOAD MUCH FASTER TOO!!

So don't put the file directly in /usr/share/hildon-welcome/media/ like i did before, it doesn't save root space and it doesn't load as fast. I don't know why your not loading....so did you see a shortcut in the /usr/share/hildon-welcome/media/??

I will try the short cut again tomorrow. Getting late here and I still have to watch yesterday's 24 episode.
Thanks again.

I did everything as slotti... Same results. I can see the shortcut in /usr/share/hildon-welcome/media/
I want to delete the videos and start all over again but I don't have permission. How can I delete them? I tried with mc.

You have to be root (before running mc)...:
Code:
sudo gainroot
(requires rootsh installed)

And be sure to use the AVI file (wmv files won't work).
