(Also, tthe text sometimes varies the location of the line breaks on a 1 or 2 second interval, which makes it hard to read).

So my request is this: can you stretch the text box across the entire top of the screen, instead of just the top right? Then I could use the xx-large font!!!

As always, thanks in advance.

Here! Here! Excellent idea! I agree.

Nik1 - install flite package, and check "Enable Voice Synthesis" on the Announce tab of MM Settings.

when you download a route, you will get a voice prompt as you approach each way point. the distance before the waypoint that the prompt is given is selectable with the "Advance Notice" bar above the checkbox on the Announce tab.

One suggestion I have for further releases is to be able to zoom in some more , as it is really hard to see street name while im driving.

Are you saying that the "Double Pixels" feature (in the "Manage Repositories" dialog box) is not sufficient? You'd like a "Quadruple Pixels" feature?

Or do you mean a quicker, "on-the-fly" zoom, i.e. you tap on a part of the screen and that part zooms in for a moment?

I do not use the "Double Pixels" feature but... I only downloaded maps to ZOOM LEVEL 1.... so when I click to ZOOM LEVEL 0 and it doesn't have these downloaded maps but... by defualt it just gives me "Double Pixels" of ZOOM LEVEL 1... this works out perfect.

...until you come across some of the smaller streets that don't show names until zoom level 0.

I live in a Major City... Toronto, ON (Canada) and I did look at this and went to the tiny streets near me and they were all listed on ZOOM 1... but maybe the odd time it won't be but I couldn't find any... I already have 2.5GB of maps downloaded (Cluster Size = 1024 bytes on 4GB SD card) and so I don't want to download anymore files. ZOOM 0 is not worth it in my opinion and plus I like it going to the default "Double Pixels".

Normally, when Maemo Mapper tries to draw a map, if it can't find the map (i.e. it hasn't been downloaded), it tries the next higher zoom level and, if it finds it, scales it (thus the "Double Pixels" effect). If it doesn't find a map at the next higher zoom level, it tries again at the next higher zoom level, etc. So, in your case, when you zoom in to level 0, since you don't have level-0 maps, Maemo Mapper draws the level-1 maps instead.

The "Double Pixels" feature forces Maemo Mapper to exhibit the above behavior at least once, even if a map exists at the current zoom level. So, if you had level-0 and level-1 maps, and if you are at zoom level 0, then it will draw the level-1 maps. If you only have level-0 and level-2 maps, and if you are at zoom level 0, then it will draw level-2 maps. If you are always in Double Pixels mode, it is worthless to download level-0 maps.

The Double Pixels feature can be applied on a per-repository basis, so if you have a map source with fonts that are just too tiny to read, you can use it just for that repository.
