pretty much any Qt program will run on maemo. So start developing as if it was for a desktop (obviously with the form size of max 800/480) and you should be fine

Hi goriofab, I just started QT development a few weeks back myself and I found the following tools.

Nokia have a decent visual tool for Windows called QT Creator: http://qt.nokia.com/products/developer-tools

There is a technology preview of a Cross Compiler called MADDE out there, runs on multiple operating systems: http://wiki.maemo.org/MADDE

Use Qt Creator to do the nice visual dev, then bring Madde in to compile and prepare for N900.

The 2 combined are a good place to start imho.

Hi,

I am working on a step-by-step tutorial, but I didn't have time to complete it yet. I think most of the information is out there, but what is missing is a page with offers the basic information by using an example, with some links to existing deeper descriptions. There was already a guy who wrote a basic packaging guide for Qt, which is quite OK. But maybe we should gather together some information and opinions what are the biggest gaps in the documentation when you want to start developing in Qt for Maemo. Is it the entry point, that the information cannot be found? Are the examples too well hidden? Would a page as I described before help as an entry point? Let us know, what is your opinion about that! Based on that we can create a nice guide, without duplicating information too much.

An entry point for developers new to Qt and Maemo would be very useful. I was just looking for such a thing myself.

IMO, the Maemo Wiki is the best place to make such a tutorial. Daniel, please start a new page, then put in there what you have written, even if it's messy and incomplete.
Then all of us can contribute by adding content, examples and making corrections to have a nice, self-contained and streamlined tutorial.

Hi,

I'm in the same boat. Did some Qt development on Windows (always with the objective of eventually porting it to Symbian/Maemo). Now I have decided to continue development on my Ubuntu system (I have dual boot) instead and I'm just learning about Scratchbox and Xephyr...

A nice place to start for info is this one:

Qt for Maemo Developers Guide

Regards,

Magnus
