It's hard to garsp how useful some iPhone apps are until you've actually experienced them...
Whilst some indeed "only" provide better or offline accessibility to contents which is otherwise available online (eg: Wikipedia or the Zipcar or LinkedIn app), quite a few provide real added value for offline contents. An example is Stanza, a free eBook reader, which none of the corresponding apps for the N900 comes even close to in terms of usability and features. Offline contents is also better when you travel, unless you're keen on roaming internet royalties...
I for one certainly hope that we will see the availability of apps for the N900 improve soon (and no, I don't mean more "unreal housewives" crappola). Apps are a fair indicator of the success of the platform, which in turns is an indicator for how likely Nokia is to continue to invest in it...

Maybe that's another thing that PR1.1 fixed - my last trip abroad was at Xmas (ie: before the f/w upgrade).
This must therefore have been one of the fixes brought by PR1.1; the 3rd from my original list of issues - not too bad actually! If Nokia continue at this pace, we should have a really usable phone within a couple of months...

Just added a new bug to my list, that I have noticed recently and nearly cost me very dearly...
I'm currently traveling in the Far East and was talking to someone in continental Europe over SIP (VoIP) with a UK N900 when that call got dropped. I instinctively used the call log to redial my contact, expecting the phone to use the same channel. This isn't the case: for calls initiated to saved contacts, the phone appears to always redial as a cell call. If you dial the call using the numeric keypad and redial it from the calls log, it does go back over SIP.
Fortunately, I noticed the shenanigan before it was too late - cost of the bug for 51 secs (in that instance): £1.98. This could easily have been £50 or more...
The bug is here - check it out and vote for it if you ever use the SIP integration on the N900...
