I understand that the N800 does not currently support A2DP, which is think means that it can't stream stereo sound to bluetooth headphones or speakers. I was really hoping I could use one of these to stream audio from my home network to speakers in my house via the UPNP capacity.

Does anyone know if I am correct that the unit will not currently do that, and if so, is that something that may be corrected in the future through a software or hardware update? I'm wondering whether I should buy one anyway or wait.

Any help is much appreciated!

A2DP support is currently on the official Maemo roadmap. I know a lot of people have been eager for its implementation as it would greatly enhance the VOIP and multimedia playback capabilities of the N800. I am very hesitant to recommend you simply wait, though, as Nokia has been consistently very slow to add new features to the platform. There has been some speculation that the update with Skype support is coming out in the VERY near future and A2DP support would be a logical feature to add at the same time. There was a major pissing match over speculation that it might even be tomorrow. My advice is to wait a week or two and see. If it hasn't come out by then, go buy yourself some A2DP headsets that comes with a bluetooth audio dongle to plug into the N800's 1/8" stereo port.

Thanks for that info. If you don't mind a follow-up question (I'm kind of new to bluetooth stuff): I want to use the N800 to stream audio to various stereo systems around my house. Are there pairs of bluetooth audio receivers (to attach to the stereo) and transmitters (to attach to the N800 audio out) that I can get. Will one transmitter work with several receivers?

Thanks.
