I hope that title fits in the space. lol.

I have been here since I got my phone a month ago. my last phone was an N80. I had it for almost 5 years. costed me $618. when it broke and I sold it, the parts got me $56 on ebay. I like to buy high end phones, then keep them for multiple years at a time, then spend half of a thousand dollars again on another, new device.

When you see how many people around you (mostly women) buy a $120 phone, then a year later renew their contract and spend $120 more because their last phone barely functions (women tend to mistreat their phones), you can see that this is a pretty smart investment idea, and 5 years of $120 is about the same as $500 in 5 years anyways.

Buying a phone to me, is something I need to think about carefully. like buying a car. I did my research, and realize this is the phone I want for the long haul. I couldn't have made a better decision.

As I scroll up and down these forums, I'm finding more and more complaining and whining about how this mobile internet device with cellular phone capabilities doesn't do all the things your last phone did. If you're going to whine, then do it to your friends, not on these forums. I get it, alot of you are disappointed, fine, then hurry up and resell your phone to people who are going to appreciate it.

Most of you here are whiners, who just bought the N900 because it was expensive. you're going to whine until the (insert the phone that you consider better than this one) comes out, then you're going to buy that one, sell this phone, and whine on the next forum you move on to. That's what you do. Also, when you are on your next forums you're going to make comments like "My N900 used to be able to (insert function here), I can't believe this one can't do this"

I am here to stay, and quite frankly, I can tell that previous n810/n800 owners seem to be here to stay too. I think I will just hold off on posting for a while until the 'whine heat' dies down, and I will feel that I am among people who truly care about this device.

If you yourself were offended by this thread, then you are exactly the person I am speaking to.

I could have just kept this all in, but I would like to know, do people here agree with me? or am I alone in thisway of thinking. notice how I am civil in my commenting, and my comments are coherent. Please try the same. I don't want this to turn into a flame war.

Civil, yeah... but you won't be completely popular by singling out women.

And my data set is admittedly limited, but out of the 4 people using cell phones in the house, here's how my family breaks down:

Me: rarely any problem losing or damaging phones
Wife: frequent trouble abusing her phones (purse seems to be culprit)
Son #1: constant problem losing, breaking and forgetting to charge phones
Son #2: occasional lost phones but impeccable care when he has them

EDIT: out of that set, take a wild guess who pays for, finds and fixes phones.

Sorry but dont paint everyone with the same brush - the N900's issues need to be brought up in order for them to be sort out. Theres constructive criticism and just negativity.

The same can be said for some people just attacking anyone who says anything negative about the N900 - chill out.

My opinion,,,, sound like a fair remarks

well, not all female don't take care of their phone, i have seen some of them really so darn techie than me and more careful when handling their phone, hahahahaha.

One thing for sure, my wife don't give a damn abt what phone I gave her. hahahahah

I'll try hard to overlook the sexism. I think your underlying motivation is probably good: you're right that there will always be people who get the newest thing only to complain at what it won't do. (I have yet to get the n900 to make me a cup of tea in bed in the morning).

But remember when you paint with a broad brush, you create boxes that actually don't fit real people. Almost everyone reading what you have said will find some reason it doesn't fit them (in my case, I'm female, and while I run devices into the ground its with work. I don't 'just break' them.)

The pleas for less unconstructive whining (note, that's not constructive suggestions and the like) is well made, though.

The N900 isn't perfect, but then again what device is? I am happy to see that problems are being addressed. Especially happy to see all the wonderful apps sprouting up in extras-devel
