Hello everyone,

Does anyone know if we can stream radio Microsoft WMV files on the Maemo somehow? I've read that regular Linux distros can stream WMV fiiles using Mplayer, VLC, or Totem. Can these players be recompiled for the Maemo N900?

The streaming radio link I want to be able to listen to on the N900 is:

http://s36wm.castup.net/990310005-52.wmv

Thank you!

Hmm it doesn't look like it's working.. it's telling me to open with media player (ogg) or save to device..

When I try to play it.. it says file format isn't supported..

But what's weird is that I can view some websites taht have wmv files embedded in the page! hmmm.

There is one package to rule them all - called extra decoders. Its in the extras (devel?) catalog so consider this your warning about enabling extras-testing and extras-devel. It can brick your device if you install something you shouldn't

Hello,

I did try installing the I installed the extra decoders per the (http://maemo.org/packages/view/decoders-support/) thread but wasn't able to play WMV Microsoft Streaming Format files. I am trying to play the following streaming source:

http://s36wm.castup.net/990310005-52.wmv

I would also consider relaying the audio stream through an internet-accessible Windows machine I run, does anyone have thoughts on that?

Please chime in with any thoughts or ideas, thanks!

Yeah, I should've mentioned that on my previous post, I have the extra decoders support package installed and it won't play that file from that link...

Replace the http:// with mms:// . I have it playing in the built in media player starting the url with mms://. I've had to do that with many of my .wma streams to make them work.

As stated earlier, KMPlayer will play the url as is.
