Hmm, sounds interesting. Would it still work like a regular task manager when there no gps on? I'd like to keep all my task in one place if possible.

Thanks for answering!

Palleman: Not yet, Felix said he would implement sync with RTM but he had no time so far.

flydeep: Thanks, please give me a feedback as soon as you test it

Gadgety: Is possible in the virtual SDK, you might have some problems with the GPS(I think there's no gps emulator) and the interface is not exactly the same but works

xman: Yes, it's task manager, you can set alarms by time or by place and use set normal Tasks, in my opinion the main drawback is the lack of sync and backup

I'll post a presentation(I did for my class) about the GeoToDo probably tomorrow

I've played a bit with this app, then closed and uninstalled (!) it because I didn't like the gui.

Then I was woken at night (0:00) by an alarm, that was [as I could guess with message on screen] linked to an item inside already-uninstalled geotodo!

How could that happen?

yoush: The problem was that when you set an alarm the GeoToDo set the alarm in the system so I don't need to be open to work. It removes from the system just if you set the ToDo as completed or remove it(or the alarm). Thanks for testing, it's good to know that is working. Would you suggesting something about the GUI? I try to make it simple and fast to use but suggestions are welcome

I am going to start testing this out. I would suggest that you work on syncing with Toodledo as well as RTM. Toodledo has a free option plus I have been told they are better to work with for devs.

BrettQ: Thanks for testing!

As I said a couple of days ago I am attaching a presentation about the Geotodo that I used for my App Development class. It has some print screens and I hope you enjoy.

Anyone else testing?

Linking ToDos to a location is a great idea !
I tested the programm a little and have a few remarks.
- first, I had some problems to sort out how the gui works. I think there are too many fields on the screen. and they are not finger friendly either. setting a due date and time using the scrollbars was only possible with the stylus.
maybe it would be better to put all fields into a scrollable list instead.
(take a look at the original n900 'new task' or 'new event' function to know what I mean).
- setting a reminder by date works well. the alarm even popped up when the program was closed.
- I added a reminder and deleted it. the alarm started although the reminder was deleted.
- how can I change the alarm sound ?
- I didn't get how the reminder screen works. is it supposed to let me set up multiple reminders for one todo ? because everytime I change anything and press the disk icon, a new entry shows up in the bottom of the screen.
- how can I uncheck a Todo that I marked as done by accident ?
everytime I wanted to change the due date and pressed the save icon, the todo was marked as done again.

-and of course the most important question:
when will the main feature (alarm by location) be available ?
;-)

best regards,
chris

I like your future plans:
On-line Synchronization;
•Multiple Edit/Add;
•Sub Tasks;
•Templates;
•Repeating Tasks;
•Calendar;

Flare,

Thank you for posting the interface presentation!

I think it is great that you are working on this application. Maemo users need it. Nokia needs it in order to make the Nxxx series to become business tools.

I realize you are targetting a geo-aware application and that you have only worked on it for a month. Looks impressive after such a short time.

Looking through your presentation it made me reflect on my requirements for a todo, and that the requirements will vary by every single person you ask for input.

For this reason a tool that allows tailoring is likely to be well received. That's why I believe the key operative word in your presentation is "Customizations."

I need a couple of things in a todo-tool in order to make it effective for my usage pattern. Basically they all come down to control.

First I need a very quick and easy way to enter stuff. One press on a button or a virtual button, and then the entry screen needs to be there. This in in line with so called GTD methodology.

Second, I need to be able to scan the entire todo list at regular intervals so as to remind me what there is to do. This is in line with the so called Autofocus methodology.

Third I would like to be able to search my to do list.

Fourth, I would like to be able to sort it, e.g. by date of entry (entire list), date of expiration (deadline, in case there is one, entire list of items with a dead line in e.g. order of deadline date), to see only items sorted by a certain category etc etc. This means to tailoring what I see on screen beyond alphabetical name, due date and specfic location (such as your example screen slide #10).

Fifth, I would like to be able to set multiple categories (sometimes this is called contexts e.g. in GTD methodology, not just geographical, but also e.g. projects etc.) I assume your "Cat:" heading addresses this. However I would like to be able to assign multiple Categories to any one task, and not to have the number of categories limited in any way.

I like the way you have a notes field. It needs to be searchable as well.

The geoawareness part of the tool for my usage pattern is really relevant when I'm out and about, such as errands, or when I have business in other geographic locations than my office. I like this as it could be really useful to set reminders and let the system think for me.

A lot of stuff these days can be done wherever (specially with a mobile phone/pocktabel computer/browser etc). Some of the information displayed on the screen therefore I find less relevant, or you could make it optional (customized) to display it, such as the distance to the location where I'm heading as it makes for a lot of info on the screen.

The ability to sync with toodledo and RTM are really nice. Specially if you add functions not present in those applications, such as the ability to sort tasks by date of entry etc.
