May I request a statusbar applet, which shows some shortcuts to apps, and when the shortcuts are clicked, that app will launch. Take a look at my (low quality) mockup made in GIMP under Easy Debian

The apps shown would be configured from the settings menu, or from a seperate app

Edit: Brainstorm Link. Could a mod move this to the brainstorm forum?
