Is there a way to manually increase the buffer size on the media player?

A solution to this problem has been an unassigned enhancement request on the bug tracker for a year or so. I asked on there if there was a workaround and got told that it wasn't a forum... True I guess; but not really fair given the fact that it looks like it's never going to get touched.

So is there a file that can be manually edited to increase the buffer? Currently it's a bit to small for 3G streaming of a 128k stream.

This is just workaround so in mean time when you are waiting for conf file, hack or bugfix you can try to learn use mplayer from command line. You can set it's buffer size by hand.

Thanks slender.

Not ideal, but a work around is a work around so I'll try mplayer.

(That was my comment in https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4128 - you've got a point, true, however I currently must try to keep the Bugzilla a bit less noisy because I want the developers to fix bugs and read the bugmail, instead of reading *lots* of bugmail that partially does not help resolving the issue. :-/ That's why I wrote that comment...)

Feel more than free to click "Vote for this bug" in bug 4128 though.

Andre,

I understand and agree - just I had seen temporary workarounds on other bugfixes and wasn't sure what the policy was here.

I've voted for the bug!
