While there is no serious way to access to EDS from Python, we can do not anything.

Contacts does not interest me enough.

When it was possible, I can not promise I will do it.

I forgot an element :
Gmail contacts are not accessible via Google APIs.
There is no serious way to access to Gmail Contacts with Python.

I think it would possible with C language, but i know only Python.

Forgive me if this a post in the wrong place, but I've read this thread with interest as I (again) try to get the GPE calendar app to work on my N800. Erminig o would be nice, if only I could the the app to work!

Here's the deal. I have installed the GPE calendar in the past, and managed to get it to at least read my Google calendar, but I experienced a lot of difficulties and decided to uninstall it and delete the repositories using the application manager. No rancor...just didn't work yet. Then I'm reading the forums and it looks like others have got it going, so I tried again. I used the link on the Maemo download site, and in a few minutes it is installed! Excellent.

Welll...no so fast. The app will start, but the default 'today' view doesn't actually load (grey screen) and the app crashes as soon as I tap on one of the 'change view' icons at the bottom of the screen. Same thing if I pull down the menu and select another view from the list.

I was able to check my calendars, and the only one in there is the default, and it is local, so there is no attempt yet to 'call' an external calendar (to say nothing of actually syncing).

So my questions for any and all:

Have I failed to install something or the correct version of something?
Is there another, more up-to-date repo?
Should I have also installed the contacts and to-do pieces of the PIM suite? Can I just leave them out?

I strated thinking that there is perhaps some part of the previous install that has not been properly or completely 'uninstalled' Although I know about x-term and have actually gone into the 'back end' of my N800, I have no real knowledge of unix or linux environments. Perhaps there is a file somehere that need to be deleted, but I can't believe that I have to go into the shell to fix this. It's not that I wouldn't if I could, but it seems relevant here in this thread at least that a (halfway) smart and committed 'user' with no technical abilities should be able to install and use the software presented as dowload options on the maemo web. This is not a 'knock' at the developers (for whose work I really am grateful) just an observation about where we end-users need to be in order for this to work!

Fortunately we have the forums, hence this post/list of questions. One more:

Should I flash my N800 to get a 'fresh' start?

I thought about this, so I tried it, but got no futher than the official Nokia flasher tool which did not seem to work because I have Vista. I was able to start the flasher tool and hooked it up to the N800 via USB but the software could not 'find' the device. Finally, then, is this a XP vs Vista problem or have I just missed something obvious (again:)

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can provide.

Greetings to all and many, many thanks to TahitiBob!! I have just installed Erminig (and re-installed GPE cal...please disregard the previous post, as I figured out how to get into the shell and clean out the config files and start fresh) and found that....

It works perfectly! At least for my needs, this is fantastic!! I really can't emphasize it enough because for the past few months, the GPE cal and the ability to sync with Google calendars have been at the very top of my N800 wish list, and you've actually made it come true-bravo!

Finally!! This makes it practical to keep calendar data with me as I cross campus and sit in on meetings and schedule even more meetings and yet I still have the ability to make major additions and updates later when I'm at my desk. To me, this is proof of the way the whole open-source easy-to-read and use api's from many data sources can be used to improve our lives.

I know, it is not a cure for cancer, but believe me this is a real step toward making information accessible and best of all, usable and that actually makes a difference in my life.

So, cheers to TahitiBob and man if you ever get to Texas, please look me up! Dinner's on me!

Peace!

Greyghost,
Your message make me very happy.
A friend said me it will be a "must have" application.
I was skeptic...
So I learned python et start to work on it.
He was right.

Until now, I have 300 cumulated downloads and it increases.

Messages as yours encourage me continue to work on Erminig.
But I think Erminig will be soon a finished application (except if You make suggestions or find bugs)
So, I start to looking for a new project for the IT.

I profit of this post to make publicity for another application Kerez :
