Just wanted to post this link about multitouch resistive screens...
It's impressive

I hope the N900's successor gets one

That would be of course a nice new feature Still is that technically possible with the N900?

Crogge, sadly no. It requires a new kind of resistive touch screen tech (from Stantum).

Wow, that's phenomenal. I hope these are ubiquitous by the time I get a new phone.

Isn't this thread is dup? I remember seeing people posting this before. But yes would be very nice to have on N900. I wish I could change my LCD and put that one instead lol. Oh and the ICU chip.

Stantum has offering demonstrations of their technology for some time now, but until they can reliably mass produce the parts at a reasonable cost and do so in the enormous quantities a major manufacturer like Nokia would require, the Stantum screens aren't going to be found in Nokia phones.

Still boggles my mind that they didn't code in the "corkscrew" gesture for the photo viewer like they have for MicroB browser. I'd be happy to have that considering multitouch isn't possible on the current N900 screen.

Yeah I sometimes mistakenly use that gesture in Maps and Photo Viewer.

You should add this idea as a brainstorm

once i used an app that uses a mouse pointer. since my last update, my msaber app is some what broken and when i touch the screen a mouse appears. i noticed that if i put my fingers on 2 points on the screen, the mouse pointer would go to a point in between my fingers that r touching the screen. and if i put 3 fingers or more, the mouse pointer would move to a position in between all fingers that r touching the screen. that made me think maybe its possible to interpolate multi-touch since it did sense all the points touching my finger, difference it returns the center of all points as an output.

the problem is when u move those points, it have no problem catching up finding the center point of the 2 fingers. but when i put 3 fingers, it starts to have problems catching up. with 4 fingers than its not really responding other than intial output.

so i guess maybe we can somewhat emulate multitouch based on the center point and distances?
