Does anyone else think that the back-light is far too bright when you're in a dark room? The N900 has a front camera, so it can sense the amount of light and dim/brighten the back-light accordingly.

(This is complementary to the adaptive back-light timeout.)

Let's talk about the best way to do this, and then I'll create a brainstorm.

it actually has a light sensor. But, the range of it is such that it can't tell the difference between dark and pitch-black dark..

there's an app called "simple brightness applet".

there you can "keep screen on" and choose between five brightness levels.
