Broadcom's new vision for home/internet tablets entails pretty much what Linux/Maemo enthusiasts have been playing with using 770's and N8x0's since 2007/2008, albeit using beefier new hardware (more fluid GUI) and Android for a provisionally pre-built experience.
The main concept devices are slightly larger and "thumbable" 7-10" deskstand tablets although more compact pocketable models would obviously be doable.
Knowing Broadcom's historical animosity towards open-source it will be doubtful if their "Persona" platform hardware will actually be supportable using alternative OSes (such as "MerGo").
