i just recently bought a nokia 770, and when i insert the mmc card it sometimes does nothing, and then next thing you know it says memory card inserted. sometimes every 5 or 10 seconds it says memory card inserted....what are the possible causes and are there any suggestions to try and narrow the issue down or how to solve it all together?

You mean the reduced size mmc that came with it right? Do you push it all the way in...with your nail or something. Does it make a clicking sound? I think you should have the unit off then insert the card.

yea im positive its in, i hear the clicking sound, and i use the butt end of the stylus to push it in. i even have tried inserting it with the device powered off, and with the battery removed to no avail.

Since the memory cards have a FAT file system you can connect the card with your windows PC (MMC USB card reader) and start a scandisk: context menu of the drive "properties->tools->error checking". Maybe the file system on the card is corrupted.
