Did you try installing the google location updater? You can get your location based on your ip address (if connected to wan) or triangulation of your cell signal. Fire up google maps on microb and see what that shows.

Just make sure you do not follow your Ovi maps directions, you might be in treat for the end of Chinese spring festival.

My OM Weather widget keeps on telling me I'm in Whitley Bay, where ever that is, but at it's in the right country on mine (I assume).

Check the actual co-ordinates (My healthcheck app will read them out for you, but is in extras dev... Personally i think it is safe, but heeeed evil scary warnings....) - goto multimap or equivalent mapper and find your actual co-ords. if they are close enough... then it could be software/setup issues.....

(Just confirming where the problem lies)

Hmm, that's weird because it was saying "Whitley Bay (GPS)" and had two other location saved in before it. Must have jst been doing something dozy. Not to worry, showing the right location now

Mine occasionally changes to Whitley Bay, usually when I'm on the train from London to Portsmouth and the cell reception is particularly sketchy. I'd always assumed it was because the N900 couldn't get a good lock on your location.

If the N900 says you are in China, then you are in China.

It's as simple as that.

change your location server. My n900 would tell me i'm on an island somewhere until i changed it. I have it set to supl.google.com works well

No, the N900 wants to declare independent: it's a phone not a GPS device.
Is China still better than North Korea?
