Voted on both.
I've also been disturbed by ABC missing. Do you thing the core of the contact app could be the same for both "contacts" and "phone"? Perhaps it would be possible to somehow get ABC in contacts with a string in the shortcut?

my suggestion is:
Just add the scrollbar with the option to disable it for those who don't want to use it.
btw: when i open a mamo-talk link on my N900 I have to swipe 5/6 times before i can start reading the topic...verry anoying if you ask me (default browser with charactersize set on large)
