Is there any software available, or might there be, for Maemo which allows for syncing of folders.

I´ve searched but cannot find....

What I see as being very useful is:
- Selecting folder A on my N900 and pairing it with folder B on my work´s shared drives and folder C on my laptop so that the program could be run to synchronize those together.
- Another use is syncing part of my mp3 / picture collection on the home network server automatically with the N900. Telling it to compare folder A there with folder B on the device,

Anything such as this available?

I have tried unison on my N810. Not sure if it''s been ported to the N900 already. It allows synching of folders via ssh over a network connection (wlan for example). Hope this helps.

Fortunately unison has been ported to N900. It is available at the end of this thread and it works nicely (and solves my synchronization needs).
Actually the command-line version for the n810 works also in n900.
