Hi,
I'm new here and got the Nokia 770 for christmas. I love it but I know nothing about linux and can't instAll stuff.
I went to try that gaim app .....clicked link posted under app (http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog#head-2507da71a190791bb8bb4afe2ccee3abc2859bb8) & it asked me about a certificate,,,I think I gave it access to my WLAN & something else (was that wrong?)....I don't see anything installed though.
I clicked the install applications thing in control panel but theres nothing on my 770 to install ...so what did I do????

what is a port page link for? How do I know which link to click on to install the application on the maemo site (http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog)?? I'm lost but I don't want to be

Also, when I send email on 770 (I set up gmail account on 770),,the recipient recieves text soooo small its unreadable. I checked myself by sending on 770 and retrieving on web (with regular desktop puter) ....why does it do that?

Sorry for all the possibly dumb questions but don't kno where else to ask.
Thanks

ok someone PLEASE HELP me.....I've installed like 3 apps now and they won't load when I click on them

That new chm viewer says its loading but never actually starts up....the FBreader loads but won't recognize any of my pdf ebooks... and the game maemo blocks just won't load....but they are all listed in a folder called "extras" like they were installed correctly....
I don't get it......IS MY INTERNET TABLET BROKEN???

I put a name in the "Device" section like 5 times but it is always blank when I look again...the version part says version: 2.2005.45-7
Pleeeze....tell me what I'm doing wrong here??
Anyone?

Hi,

The installer is really troublesome for it doesn't handle dependencies.
for the chm viewer, did you installed all 3 deb files? You really need all three of them otherwise the app won't start.

I think Fbreader don't support pdf files. It uses other formats.

To start maemo blocks, you need to install the maemo-games-startup deb file also.

About gaim... I think you only accessed the link of the port page. The port page is the one that requires a certificate. (It's ok to accept the certificate) You didn't download the deb file yet. To download and install, use the link to http://download.berlios.de/maemo-gai...5-dk-1_arm.deb

erica, gmail lets you view pdf files online, so you could essentially just email yourself a pdf file and view online with gmail. maybe that helps a bit also

The Linux world needs to get less wild and woolly. At least the neighborhood the 770 lives in.

At least she wasn't stopped by that legalistic stupidity about installation "damaging" the 770.

Stopped me!
