Hi all,

I installed the kmplayer and mplayer(command line only) and for some reason, some videos have a lag in the audio. The audio is actually faster than the video (not in sync). When ppl are talking, their mouth's do not sync up with the audio being spoken. It happens on .mp4 and .flv files. I tried installing the Extra Codecs Support app, and that didn't work. So I uninstalled it. Rebooted several times (power off/on), removed the battery, but no success. Any help would be appreciated. I'm on firmware, 2.2009.51-1.002, kmplayer 0.10.3-1.

Cheers.

The AV sync may actually be wrong in the file. Using mplayer, the '+' and '-' keys will adjust the AV sync manually, so you should be able to get it sounding OK, but you'll have to do that every time you watch the video.

Spanner, the video plays fine on my home computer, but not on the N900. So I don't think it's an issue with the file.

Playing on the N900, the video is slower than the audio. How do I access the mplayer '+' and '-' keys? I use kmplayer to open/play the file. Not sure how to access the mplayer controls, please advise.

Touch the screen once, then '+' or '-', more details here, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...460#post522460

Bunanson,

When I activate the OSD, I still do not see the + and - buttons on the screen, is it suppose to be on the screen, or the physical keyboard? I tried pressing blue arrow and the s button (+) and the blue arrow and the f button (-), nothing happens.

The physical keyboard. You have to have installed mplayer, and selected 'mplayer' from the "Select Player" menu in Kmplayer.

And you still need to tap the screen when the video is playing before the key presses will register.

I got the buttons to work now, however, even if I press delay using the (-) button to the max, my audio and video is still not in sync. The audio is like ahead by 5 to 7 seconds...or the video is behind like 5 to 7 seconds, depends how you look at it. But it plays fine on my home computer. The file is not super high resolution or anything, so not sure why the N900 is not playing it correctly.

I'm sorry to bump this thread, but i have the same problem as mentioned above.

Audio is faster than video, but on my laptop it plays perfect.
Is there anything I can do about this???
Video file is MKV.

Please help me.

Mplayer is a software only solution that does not really make use of any of the hardware acceleration of the phone. This means it is rather slow to playback since it has to use the CPU solely for this purpose. It also depends on the bitrate of your file realistically, and it is too high, then audio will be decoded slower than the video. Mainly the HD ones that are 720p and above.

The only way to get past this is to do a conversion of the file from MKV to MP4 (a format that is accelerated from the native player) or you can try and overclock your CPU up to 900+ Mhz to see if that helps.

Well, here comes overclock. I overclock to 850 and the av desync "improved", not totally disappears, but bearable, and N900 is stable, so far. Do you have to be a Linux guru in order to overclock? Not anymore, Jakiman has it ALL worked out for you, just installed from app manager, and reboot. All detailed here, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...582#post595582 #thread 774.
