I have put some backup files on my memory card that I had to move to another computer and it had lots of music and picture files

now they all appear in photos and in music but when I try to open it it says cannot find media obviously because its not there but is displayed in media player

I know once when I put music on N900 hard drive it refreshed but now I just dont know how

is there anyway to do it via terminal?

You can force a reindex by running "tracker-processes -r" in X Terminal, then starting Media Player.

Thank you!
After I had rearranged the folder structure of my music files the system insisted on counting the old locations as duplicates.
Two update-related reboots didn't solve the problem but that command did.

aboudyba16- Nope Ur solution was tried by me & didn't work.

I had a read write error while I was transferring some files from my PC to the device. The Phone rebooted and after that it would show only 7 songs our of the 500 mp3 i had stored inside.

Several reboots and failed attempts of finding a refresh list command from the media player interface, I finally was able to get all my library via the tracker-processes -r command.

Thank you Rob1n for sharing this knowledge. It makes me love the Linux OS and my N900 even more. Could you please suggest me a good starting point to learn all about linux so that in the future i could fix my devices myself.

Thanks for the Fix people.. all of you make Linux an awesome system.

Thanks for posting this. I had a video file indexed in media player that, like terminator, kept coming back no matter how many times I deleted it.
