non Nokia affiliated finn here. Just yesterday I blogged about my problems in choosing a proper mobile device:
http://huima.wordpress.com/2010/03/0...art-to-choose/
... and later on that day I got a second hand N900 with only few weeks of usage time behind it. I am still thinking about iPhone a lot, even though N900 is by far the best mobile computer I have ever had... emphasis on the word computer. This beast is not a phone or computing device, but a truly amazing engineering feat: really slic mobile computer.
Few days earlier I commented about communications and message related the Moblia + Maemo merger:

And now I own N900, which means I did listen more to the geek inside me - rather than the consumer in me. I will give some time now for N900 and use it as my only mobile device ( not counting real laptops ) and see how I feel. In just one day I have woken up to the possibilities and great features already present in the device and system.
Even though N900 is still not quite mainstream ready as I hoped, it is getting closer and closer to the point where you could give it to someone non geeky and see how they appreciate what the device can offer. My impressions about Nokia-software are completely transformed as many components included with N900 are really slick and work well. Innovations in Conversations are really cool and I am really looking forward twitter plugin etc. tools to mature more, though I already had to install it as it makes life so much easier.
The amount of good quality software for Maemo is disappointing compared to iPhone, but everything you need to be a connected modern netizen is included or easily available.
.. and rest of ir.. Oh well. I'm keen on stating to program python again with a twist of Qt.
