Has anyone any experience of bluetooth dun internet access on Vodafone 3g?

I have a Motorola SLVR from work, which is GPRS only. I have no entitlement to a new handset for some time yet, so I'm considering buying a sim free handset - a Nokia 6233 or something like that.

Before I do, can anyone tell me what kind of speeds are realistic?

Cheers,

Mike.

On the 770, I find the speed of the browser/memory to limit the performance. With WLAN and UTMS, performance is similar.

I use T-Mobile 3G in the UK on a N800 and I find it improves the browsing experience a great deal. There's still a chunk of latency when you connect to a page but the actual downloading is much, much faster.

Of course I live in the backside of nowhere so I only get 3g speeds when I'm at work.

Just upgraded to a Samsung HSDPA set and the speeds are vastly superior to EDGE/GPRS. Like Tuxedosteve said, there is still a bit of latency when connection, but once the connection is up it's lightyears ahead of browsing on EDGE. Really, if you can afford a mobile broadband connection, and don't have access to wifi everywhere you go, get it. It completely changes the use pattern of the N800 and vastly increases its usefulness (plus, streaming Rhapsody in the car is just badass >:])

My Sony Ericsson W850i is 3G and works really well with my N800, the only annoying thing is the number of tunnels and mobile blackspots on my commute on the West Coast Main line.

It deals remarkably well with prolonged periods of drop-out though.

If you commute the west coast mainline, you should call in at Berkhamsted for a pint!

Thanks for the offer, but Berkhamsted is just a happy blur to me on a Pendolino from Euston.

Unless they need to stop and reboot - usually to reset the tilt. Which, outside Berkhamsted, is about 45 deg! :-/
