Feel free to implement it, then.

That said: ConIC may help, but the ID of the current network (which is needed to tell the type of connection) is a pain in the ***. I've modified fiferboy's widget to do it and it blocks the tablet while it's connecting.

Great App so far qwerty12. Love it!

Since this is also about battery saving: Would it be a possible to implement a query that triggers a switch from explicit 3g to dual modus when the charger is plugged in (and back). E.g, in the car or at home in a docking station)?

Sorry, if this has already been asked before or elsewere.

I'm quite sure this problem is not caused by this particular app, but does anyone have the following situation? - I've installed a few programs (let's say 20) and somewhere along the way the 2g/3g app stopped showing on the status. The reason why I think It's not a fault with this app is that The Onion Router app dissapeared also. I'll be happy to list all my installed programs, but let's see if someone has figured it out already.

sorry for my little OT but it may be related to this thread somehow.
I am looking for how to change the module between 2g/3g via dbus, anyone knows?

specifically I need a way to get the gsm/umts cellids (which are different), better if without changing 2g/3g mode every time I need it

Thanks in advance

I have tried this app for a couple of days, and I must say it works great!.
I like to stay online on MSN during the days, and with 3g that consume ALOT of power, but with 2g it dont consume as near much power.
I also have Exchange sync (always online) and that works just fine with only GSM.

However: I have a suggestion.
Is it possible to automagically trigger the app to use "dual" or 3G when a browser window is open?
It would be nice to not have to open the app and switch to 3G manually.

Hmm... I have to demonstrate that I was a bit foolish to give you my reason for this happening.

The status menu has limited vertical room, and the 2g/3g app seems to appear last. I figured mine was broken too until I realised you can scroll the status menu.

Ooops.

Leave that as an option to the user, too... On the road I have a hard time with dual, and 2G is enough to check the traffic online.

Great app! I think, it would be useful to add "Switch Cellular Off" mode too. Now we have to use another app to do it. But it will be much useful, to have it in one place.
