How do i get the full screen keyboard to appear?
Press the middle button on the rocker pad (directional pad). Also you can tap the text entry field with your fingers.

This requires a previous step in the control panel -

Yikes am I behind on this thread. I've been too busy cleaning/organizing my blog to help that I forgot to tell people in this thread so.

Okay - Looks like all the bases are covered in this thread so far. Between the FAQ that was the initial topic and my "Welcome to your Nokia 770" article a while back, it should be all set for new people to have fun.

In the meantime - Go ahead and comment on my blog or Skype me. That's the fastest way to let me know there are posts that I should watch.

The boot from USB guide gives errors.
It looks like http://eko.one.pl/maemo/ is down

Great post Rob!

It would be great if you could mention the issue with connecting to home networks using 802.11n. I know there are other posts in the forum regarding it, but a question like "Are there any fixes for the 802.11n connection issue?" And before someone responds with "its covered under search the forums", I know I've searched. But it would be helpful to see in this FAQ post.

Thanks!

Two quick curious screen questions...

1) From the talk and reviews, I was expecting a beautiful color screen. It looks very grainy especially when there is a lot of white background. My old axim x50v looked a ton better, and my treo 700p actually fairs pretty well against it. From everything I read, I expected better.

2) Do the left and top bars need to take up valuable real estate on the screen? The smaller real estate combined with the above is not giving me the warm fuzzies on my new toy. One thing I hated about windows mobile devices with the top and bottom bars permanently taking up valuable visual real estate.

Over my Treo, I thought I'd have a better experience surfing the net while being able to stream audio and then ultimately make use of the nice screen and the usb host mode to use external drives to show technique vids, pdfs and such. Not sure if I'm going to get all that.

a few moments of toying with your 770 (or perhaps reading the manual) would have showed you that the left button on the top of the unit changes web pages and applications to full screen, eliminating the menu bars.

This FAQ is not so much me answering people's questions but more of me answering the questions i've had- and putting those answers for others to see. If you find the answer i'd be happy to add it.

I'll be sure to post something here if I find it. Right now the only answer is to not use encryption. I was using the most secure settings I could, but have gone to a less secure of hiding SSID and filtering MAC addresses. The 770 connects right away now. I just feel less secure about it so my search isn't over.

Still, this is a great idea, especially after the woot! caused increase of 770 users!

That grainy look isn't from the actual LCD (Which is a great LCD) it is from the plastic top-coat that is meant to give the LCD the feel of paper under the stylus. The effect you are seeing is the plastic layer acting like water on a TV (magnifying the pixels in odd ways)
Some aftermarket LCD protective add-ons do the same thing.

I do not know if you can remove it without leaving adhesive behind.
Some people have said that RainX will help with the feel of the screen, but I don't know if it will clear up the texture any.

geez. you would've thought I would've toyed around with it a bit more before asking. I think I got disenchanted with the grainy screen and then seeing the encapsulated browser to boot I just got annoyed and ranted. So thanks for the quick pointer.
