I dont know which plugin resegerda is talking about but I as well have realized it is currently impossible to use QQ on the n900 unless you want to use the very lame and irritating Web QQ Mini.

Both with Pidgin and the Extra Protocols Plugin, you will be allowed to sign in and use it but only for a limited time. The longest I've been signed in was 3 hours before I got kicked off. Once youre kicked off you have to log into QQ's 安全中心 or "security center" to re-authorize your account.
the problem lies in the nature of Tencent's business model - they let noone use QQ on a 3rd party application. They have a monopoly on their native app and dont want anyone "porting" anything to another platform. They crackdown hard on this - don't ask me how they know what we're using or how much time/money they've devoted to it - but I don't foresee a workaround in the near future unfortunately.
Others have mentioned tightening up the QQ security measures on said security website but I've fiddled with all of them and nothing works. Also, let me mention I'm in China.

If youre having trouble logging in, this is 90% the cause.

I couldnt agree more. unfortunately the n900 doesn't target the Asian market. at least not yet. but Nokia should realize that QQ is increasingly gaining popularity - I'm sure there are more and more users using it who aren't living in China/Asia. they should pay Tencent a little something so we can all use it without this hassle.

webQQ was a bit too convoluted for me - text too small and too many links/content. will have to check it out again..
