Which phase is the case in? Have they finished the rigorous testing on it?

IM sitting in the car, surfing on n800 through someone's router. Reading this with much joy. I noticed tht Bora dir's are updated, 4th of July. no new files yet.

NO Skype in my repositories?

I've to get home... i Feel strange sitting in the car surfing, but its fun though.

No. I have nothing whatsoever to do with the OS and software releases.

Just be patient though!

Can someone shed light as to why Nokia doesn't disclose release dates in advance?

Because it's impossible to predict when your software is going to be finished.

Most software companies publish a release date and then modify it as needed. I just get a little tired of the cute game of suggestions as to when it might be out. This forum is a great place for Nokia to officially say what they are working on and what holdups they might encounter. Although I am not a programmer, I love to hear a company that can give you some insight into what they are doing. What could be a better audience for that than a forum like this? Motivated owners of your product that have been known to beta test for you and tend to solve problems on their own. I just wish they would participate more in our conversations here on the forum in a much more official capacity. There is my $.02, for what it is worth. I am certainly looking forward to playing with Skype on my N800.

That is unless y'all setup chinook repos already ?
As I've said elsewhere, I'd be very surprised (and, as a developer, disappointed) if the next firmware was based on Chinook (i.e. Maemo 4.0).

Bora is the codename for all Maemo 3.x releases, which should include the next firmware update.

However, remember Rhapsody was a separate application, but still came along with a firmware upgrade.
