I received a Brodit active car cradle from PDA Hut today (they were true to their word on Tues 9th) and it fits the N900 well, holds it snugly (portrait or landscape) and easily fit onto the same Brodit swivel I was previously using for my E71.

Good service from PDA Hut.

Unfortunately I do not have enough windshield real-estate for something like this

I went with the active holder from ProClipUSA, should be here next week, woohoo!

Is there a car holder that does not obstruct the camera lens?
I'd like to use the N900 as an in-car video recorder to have proof in case of traffic incidents.
See this brainstorm

wouldnt that require a massive amount of storage? unless you manually deleted each recording if your trip went without..err..'incident'

If anyone needs any more 'real life' pictures let me know and I'll see what I can do, but the images on ebay should give you a good idea.

It's called the 'AIO PREMIUM CAR HOLDER & CHARGER FOR NOKIA N900 UK' and I can't wait for maps to be released now!
Would it be possible to see a picture of the end of the phone, where the headphone socket is while in the cradle? I am interested whether it is possible to plug it in while it is in the holder...

Thanks in advance!

Feels very study and well made and much better than their N95 mount. I decided on the passive mount as I already have a car charger and it is easier to mount my N900 as it mounts from the left side and means I do not have to adjust the mount position at all and can do it up tight.

It works well in portrait but I doubt I will ever use that, and the keyboard slides out very easily and all feels sturdy.

All in all I am extremely happy, now just need to sort out my noisy charger and await a proper Sat Nav solution

p.s. Is there a way to stop the screen timing out when in battery mode?

John
Hi All, new to the forum but not the site.

bockersjv, I am curious, I have the latest firmware, namely 3.2010.02-8, and yet I cannot use my N900 in portrait mode for anything at all except the phone. How did you manage that? I'm in the UK too, if that makes a difference, I might have downloaded the wrong firmware.

Cheers

I never use my N900 for portrait either, i have auto rotate for the phone that all. howver Sygic navigation also works in portrait mode.

I think you may have misunderstood, i meant the the brodit swivels so that the phone is upright in portrait mode, but that would only be of any use for the phone application (well and the web browser and sygic navigation)

P.s. I have the same firmware as you assuming it is the 203 variant.

for those people who bought this from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIO-PREMIUM-CA...item27afb77391

Can anyone comment how tight the fit is and whether it's possible to use it if your N900 has an Invisible Shield body protection cover? I'm tempted to get this but don't want it to damage the Invisible shield protection on the side and back.

I also would like to check how the phone fits with invisible shield applied on it with this thing. Can also someone post actual photos with the phone attached?

Thanks
