Hey does anyone know of an application that will supply football scores for the english leagues and will show fixtures and news as well but needs to be up to date and also an app that refreshes itself. I used to use espn on the h1 it was quite good but not accurate and out of date and didnt refresh itself.

You mean the american Footbal oder the european kind (aka soccer)?
If you mean soccer there is a very nice webpage: www.livescores.com
Unfortunately it didn't refresh itself on my N900 but it should.... worked on my laptop. Didn't try how it with Fennec... mybee it works there.
I don't think there is a real N900 App for that, only webpages for now

The BBC Football RSS feeds connected to the desktop widget is the best I've managed to find so far.

yeah was looking for an app really at the moment im using www.sportinglife.com which is very good it refreshes itself and shows loads of different games and other information but having the web open for the duration of a game uses allot more power than having an app running in the backround.
Hopefully one will come around sometime soon. i love my n900 but sometimes i wish it ran apps like android but mind you the h1 runs limo os that cant be too different from maemo ??????

No, we mean football. Foot + Ball = Football, American 'Football' is Hand + Egg. We made football anyway so we can name it what we like :P

Perhaps something like the desktop widget or queen-bee and a suitable script would suffice. I know for instance that the queenbee thread has an example of using it for baseball scores. Could that perhaps be adapted, It seems as all it would require is a suitable site to get the information from.

Actually... football is just a more tactical version of rugby which, as we all know, comes from England. So you didn't really made it you just changed something that was already there

But back to topic:

I also saw that queenbee thread and immediately was thinking about using that for soccer scores. A real widget would be much nicer though

I have been wanting to start a thread asking if someone would be kind enough to create a World Cup app. With all the fixtures, locations and then when games are played updated with scores and line ups and group tables. I know people like to say the N900 browser is so great you don't need a facebook app and the same can be said about this but there is no substitute for convenience.
