Yeah, I guess I should have clarified that...
It does work automatically, but I'd also like the ability to launch it directly from my desktop instead of the two clicks needed when background apps are running. Can I build an icon for it? How would I do that?

Here is a new shutdown splash screen by me...
Put the image in usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon
The image is already named startup_nokia_logo.png so needs no alterations.
Download the image HERE in .zip archive.

Here i made my own custom.
25% = Yellow
13% = Red
Low = EmptyRed
Very Low = Empty
On my N900, you only get to see the Empty Battery graphic for about a second before it shuts down. :-)
I hope you don't mind the modification to your work.
How do I upload a .rar, it says "Invalid file type".
