@oldpmaguy

The rom is marble.zip 413 kb as it loads it says marble madness (set 1)

Try it on the pc version of 0.137 1st then do the same thing on the n900 version.
Ok I'm fuxxored, and I don't get it - I can't even play it on my PC, I get the same error message. I just DL'd the latest 137 set, playing on the latest MAMEUI32 137 build! I don't get it!

I've got five marble.zip files, named marble.zip and then 2 through 5. The unnumbered one is the largest, at 189 KB. I'm confused.

Ed. The PC MAME does give the "mising ROM/CHD" message, but then will play the game after a moment of black screen. However, the N900 MAME just gives me a red box stating the "roms are missing", and forces the ROM to close after the next button press. So what gives? Maybe the bigger ROM hs some sort of dummy file that is satisfying the N900's MAME137?

Code:
mame (0.137-0maemo3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Recommended upgrade for all: provides basic keyboard and joystick
    controls for everyone with no extra hassle.
  * Fix config file corruption bug introduced in previous version.
  * More complete/sensible default keymap:
    - volume rocker toggles OSD (volume) and configuration menu;
    - all 6 player one buttons (A,Z,S,X,D,C with alternates '.' ',' L
      and Space for buttons 3-6);
    - <Ctrl>-P for snapshot;
    - <Ctrl>-L & <CTRL>-S load & save (you may want to disable autosave);
    - #1-#3 (Q, W, and E) to coin1/start1 through coin3/start3
      (This is probably not useful. However, if someone actually hooks
      up three joysticks and video out to use this, i *want* a video
      of it...)

Just as a reminder: it starts up with tilt control enabled. If you want to use it, turn the phone face down for a second. If not, just go about your game and it will shutdown.

I took out the autorotate but it's easy to rotate a game. Press the right volume button and it's one of the many options in the menu there.

Have fun!

Hopefully i have sorted it for you,

I had the same problem on my pc version i but this bios rom in the roms folder and it worked.

atarisy1.zip

U may have to search for it but it comes with a mame bios pack.the only problem i found was that putting a few bios roms zipped in your roms folder, when you want to choose a rom from the rom selection screen they show up which at times is a pain.

does anyone know of a cleaner way to add bios roms????

Aha, yes, of course. I have forgotten to put the bios roms onto the N900! It's been so long since I had to do anything like that. I suspect that should clear it up completely - I'll report back.

I think another way to do it is to just put the needed bios rom ino the zip in question. That would prevent the problem of selecting bios rom zips in the N900's MAME GUI.

Yes that worked

Unzipped marble rom then unzipped bios rom then made a new marble.zip with unzipped bios unside and hey presto it worked.

All i need to do now is find out which roms relied on which bios and i can finally clean up my roms folder.

cheers for that oldpmaguy.

It should be by system, no? So for example, the problems I've been having with Metal Slug will be solved when I put the NeoGeo bios in the MS zip, and etc.

Thanks again for reminding me of bios roms, BTW, I was going crazy!

I have found that unloading roms (and maybe shuttting down MAME too) take significantly longer than usual. I thought MAME had hung up the system, but the second time I exited a game, I let it run, and it eventually went back to GIU. Maybe bigger games take longer to unload, now? Just a guess.

Since todays uk firmware update has anyone found that all near fully working roms sometimes slow down for a split second and speed back up again when previously they ran fine?
