So yesterday me and a friend of mine decided to swap each others phones for a day.I gave him my n900 and he gave me his iPhone. At first i was quite pleased with the extremely fluid UI and the plethora of games, but after that...nothing.It could be my fault because im not used to the phone but compared to the n900's screen i found the touch screen to be very inaccurate, especially in terms of typing. The application screen or "menu" made me feel as if i was closed in a small room with nowhere to go,black background and lots of icons staring at me.I found it hard to reach the desired applications because of the lack of shortcuts,i had to swipe throughout several homescreens just to reach a particular application. The lack of widgets made the expirience even more confusing.I wont comment on the browsers because they are not even in the same league.

The things i enjoyed:
Music playback-playlists,scrolling throught the songs, music playback
Video-video playback in general,it was extremely smooth
Applications-Plethora of applications, including many awesome games, the Facebook app was simply amazing
UI-Too smooth to be true

After trying the iPhone i got to like my Nokia even more, but thats just me.

Thanks. It would be interesting to hear what your iPhone-owning friend thought of the N900.

Heh, did you ever try going left of the leftmost home screen? I was extremely annoyed that it wouldn't revolve back to the rightmost one -- utterly unintuitive, if you ask me. Same thing if you reach the end, it doesn't go back to the beginning as one would expect. The fact that the screen would move sort of halfway and then spring back confused me even more, since it made me assume that it can move but I am not swiping all the way, so I kept trying for a short while...

PS. You may want to consider putting a space after each punctuation mark.

Traitor!

I didn't even buy an iPhone nor even consider buying one!

I even have to santise my hands each time I come into contact with a obscene piece of technology.

For now, I am carrying both - yes, two numbers.

Each has it's advantages.

The N900 certainly has the ability to have the same types of applications as the iPhone, but it will take a monumental effort by developers and Nokia to match the best of what iPhone has to offer.

What I use on the N900 every day: phone calls, messaging/email (Gmail/Nokia Messaging), superior browser, Google Reader, gPod; free Wi-Fi at Starbucks requires jumping thru a few login screens, Flash

What I use on the iPhone: location/travel/restaurant services. Free Wi-Fi at Starbucks is automatec

My cheats: several websites are optimized for the iPhone. I've extracted those iPhone specific URLs and loaded them as shortcuts on my N900. Sometimes, these websites are quicker/easier to view on the N900, rather than the full-fledged websites the N900 browser defaults to

What I don't like about the iPhone: required to use iTunes if I want to do any sync'ing. I can't just copy files over to the iPhone when in a rush. Also can't just download some files.

Note well: since I am on ATT, I am limited to Edge on the N900. However, I find that 3G isn't always an advantage - for most things Edge does quite well in my area, and 3G isn't always faster. Sometimes 3G is quite slow, or won't even load webpages, while Edge will. Go figure.

My only dissatisfaction: two pockets needed to carry both phones.

maybe he is not talking because he is in AWE OF PURE AWESOMENESS!!! :P

I came from an iPhonie, and even thought the UI is much more polished on Apple than on Nokia, I seriously dont regret one single day.

Also, I dont have to deal with no stinkin iTunes... Just that alone made me switch happily.
