Can I get the screen to lock without having to enter the security code, like on other nokias press x & x to unlock - not for security but just to stop the thing calling people etc.

thats why there is a slider switch on the right side.
locks the screen.

and display settings has a "lock screen auto.." option as well

You can also double-click the power button.

Or there's Power Button -> Lock Screen and Keys which is the same as the lock switch on the right-hand side.
