Hi,
Have just bought a second hand N800, and the previous owner has left it 100% full of all his stuff (even his credit card details !). I need to clear everything off this machine right back to its original state.
Is this possible please, and if so, then how.
Many Thanks.

I would reflash the device with OS2008, this will remove all settings and previously installed software giving you a factory fresh experience. Welcome, I am also new and late to the game myself. I think you'll enjoy your new toy. Hope you educated the previous owner of his ways and told him he was fortunate it was you who got the device in that condition and not some seedy character (assuming you're not seedy).

Hi xopher,
Thanks for the update. Will go and try to find this update and use it. However what do I do if in fact this OS2008 is already loaded.
many thanks.

@moofychops: You can still just reflash. Reflashing with the same version is like a 'reset to factory setting' feature.

It is not necessary at all to reflash the device to clear all user data to bring original state.

There is an option at the menu on the adjusts screen.

Reflashing is still the safest way though, if you really want to be sure your device is in a pristine state.

I would reflash the device. You never know what the previous owner could have left behind. More info on reflashing here http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware and http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-...oftware-update

If you're on Windows, it should be very easy.

Hi,
Thanks for all the help. The previous owner had left loads of credit details on the N800, plus some rather shaky notes. lol So I think probably a re-flash might well be best. Will give it a go later to-day, and if it all goes horribly wrong, will come back and cry on your shoulders again. lol
Thanks.
