I'm using Psx4all now and use Xterminal to kill it. You have to use Xterminal, type in "top" (no quotes) then find the PID of Pulseaudio. Then open another Xterminal and type "Kill "insert pid"" No quotes, replace "insert pid" with the pid of pulseaudio. Increases speed in Psx4all enough to make Final Fantasy 7 extremely playable.

Pulseaudio still uses up resources even after turning it off. I have no idea why though.

sound - off not working
but can you kill pulseaudio from xterm with "killall pulseaudio" command

using psx4all playing ff7 with pulseaudio killed, when getting into the 1st battle screen it crashed, any idea? n the load state is unusable

use psx4all.. i'm currently playing it.. and it works just fine, at high fps.

ff7 pal iso
psx bios scph1001.bin
GFX settings: everything off and 0, except cycle multiplier = 10. That should get you going.
